Youth Accounts

Build a strong foundation for your child's future! As a special gift to kickstart your child's financial wellbeing, Pioneer Valley Credit Union will deposit the initial $25 for our savers under the age of two.

In preparation for opening this account, please provide any two documents listed below:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Social Security Card
  • School ID
  • Passport

In addition, parent/guardian must provide primary ID. This account serves our savers up to age eleven.

Super Savers Account

Save for the future, today! Super Savers must be between the ages of twelve to fifteen. Open a Super Savers Account with an initial $25 deposit to save for your child's future.

Teen Savings and Checking Accounts 

Pioneer Valley Credit Union encourages young adults to be financially responsible by offering accounts that teach life skills. Members in this age group have access to:

These great services are available with the support of a parent or guardian. To open a Teen Account, members must be between the ages of sixteen and seventeen.

Student Essay Contest for Seventh and Eighth Graders

Pioneer Valley Credit Union encourages creative writing to build upon expressive thought through prompts based on current events. The top essays selected compete at the state level.

Members and their children are eligible to participate in this program for a cash prize. Applications are accepted annually from Fall to Spring.

2022 Student Essay Contest


Write On! Pioneer Valley Credit Union is proud to announce the 2022 Student Essay Contest.

The contest rules and eligibility requirements for participants are as follows:
      • Only students currently in the seventh and eighth grades are eligible to
        participate.
      • Students must be Massachusetts residents.
      • Schools must be located in Massachusetts.
      • Students must be sponsored by a member credit union in good standing
        with the CCUA.
      • All essays must be handwritten by the student.
      • Essays should be no more than 250 words in length.
      • Only one essay per student may be submitted. Each student may be
        sponsored by only one credit union.
      • Each essay should include the student’s name and grade level, home
        address, school name, teacher’s  
        name, principal’s name and sponsoring credit union (Pioneer Valley
        Credit Union).
      • Essays will be judged on the following criteria:
             Originality
             Content
             Neatness
             Grammar/Spelling

Winners
There will be eight winners with the following awards:
      First Prize (1) - $500
      Finalists (7) - $250
     
      Honorable Mention (10) – $50

2022 Essay Contest Question
“Your community, your country and the entire world continues to battle the effects of the COVID-19 virus pandemic.  Everyone has experienced changes in how we work, how we learn, how we socialize and credit unions have worked hard to continue to serve their members’ varied financial needs under very challenging circumstances – remote workers, sick or caregiving staff, COVID restrictions such as masks, social distancing, and protective barriers, etc.  Please share the three biggest COVID impacts in your own life and how you have challenged yourself to overcome them.”

Students are asked to write an essay revolving around this theme. The essay should be no more than 250 words in length. Please follow guidelines above.

Pioneer Valley Credit Union Scholarship Program

Each year, Pioneer Valley Credit Union awards four well-deserving high school seniors a scholarship to help with the rising cost of a college education.

Students selected can receive up to $2,000 in scholarship funds. The program runs towards the end of each year. Winners are selected and awarded at a ceremony in the Spring of the following year. Credit union members and their children are eligible to participate in the Scholarship Program.

Our 2022 College Scholarship program is now available. Apply for your chance to receive a $2,000 Scholarship towards your higher education. Application deadline is 3/1/2022. Please review our application guidelines below before applying.

We are eager to receive your completed application. Please ensure the following are included with your application:

  •     Sealed High School Transcript
  •     SAT/ACT Scores
  •     Essay
  •     List of Extracurricular Activities and Volunteer Work
  •     Associated Member Number

Applications must be recieved by, or postmarked no later than, March 1, 2022 to:

Applicants must be a Pioneer Valley Credit Union member, child or grandchild of a member. Applicants must be a senior in High School. Applications can be printed from our website and are available at any of our Pioneer Valley Credit Union branches.
